Blue Sky Research Lasers

Blue Sky Research offers beam-shaped laser diodes, laser illumination sources, laser modules, and laser components that are robust, miniature, reliable, and easy to integrate into customer applications. With over 35 years of experience, Blue Sky Research has unique expertise in designing laser modules, single-mode fiber coupling of laser diodes, laser diode driving electronics, and system integration.

LED Chip & Package

Ushio “epitex” series LEDs cover a wide variety of wavelengths in the ultraviolet (UV), visible, and infrared (IR) spectral regions, from 365nm to 1900 nm, based on reliable technology and expertise in epitaxy and packaging developed over 30 years. We offer the broadest LED wavelength coverage for your applications, with shorter wavelength emitters available in 20nm increments (below 1000 nm), and longer wavelength emitters every 50nm (over 1000 nm).

As a global business leader, a technology entrepreneur with 30+ years of experience and a Silicon Valley veteran he successfully managed and guided global companies; public, private, start-up and mature. From starting a semiconductor/telecom “Unicorn” IPO, which went public less than four years after its inception with a market cap of $4B, to founding a laser company which created an entirely new market of Laser Cinema to leading a company that sells or partners with 75% of the world’s highest brand value companies. He loves a challenge and is passionate about building and leading people and businesses. He has an unrelenting drive and able to see the optimal business models through the business complexities by mentoring and striving to bring out the best in people, partnering with supplier/customers and acquiring companies (driven > 16 different transactions). Mr. Mackenzie is a citizen of three (3) countries; has worked in Canada, United States, Europe and spent over four (4) years in Asia on business. In the first half of his career, he concentrated on Silicon, Semiconductors Packaging, telecom, consumer electronics and the second half of his career has been focused on everything to do with light delivered in different forms Lasers, Lamps and LED’s from extreme UV, UV Disinfection, display (Projection, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality), multi spectral imaging, medical system, SWIR, IR etc.
